The South American Language Center has over 25 years of experience on the Spanish teaching field, with customers from all over the world. Supported by the Education and Culture Ministry of Ecuador. We are located in Quito, the capital of Ecuador, the second highest capital in the world. Few cities are blessed with a location that surpasses Quito's setting: in the hollow of the passive Pichincha volcano. Full of colonial flavor, Quito was an Inca city refunded by the Spaniards in 1534. From the cobblestone streets in Quito Old Town, to the modern cosmopolitan new town, any traveler visiting Quito will get amazed by the city's architectural contrast, enhanced by a charm weather and friendly atmosphere. Ecuador is a land of contrasts you will never forget: four climate regions, two hemispheres, one small country. Picturesque beaches along the Pacific Coasts, majestic Andean highlands and snow-capped peaks, the mysterious and exotic Amazon jungle, and finally a group of enchanted islands (Galapagos), all at the reach of your hand in a small country of friendly people who proudly say: "ECUADOR HAS MORE!", more to give and more for you to discover. Our School has over 25 years developing and refining its Spanish as a Second Language Program in an individual way (one to one class). After one or two months of intensive study and daily liv¬ing, students get amazed with their new Spanish skills. Achieving the same level of Spanish with any other method, would actually take much more time and effort. A total immersion in the Language is used in our intensive program, with seven daily hours of instruction. Continuous conversation, pronunciation correction, grammatical structure review, oral and written exercises make our teaching method simply the best. The student will acquire confidence enough to correctly commu¬nicate. During the lessons, the instructor uses several resources such as videos, games, multimedia, diverse exercises and reading passages. These materials make learning more dynamic and flexible. Above all this, the student is always encouraged to use and apply the learned structures. All of our language exercises are enriched with historical and cultural facts about the country. Interesting reading material, speeches and visits to museums contribute culturally to our lessons. In addition, we organize comfortable home stays with Ecuadorian families, which provide a glimpse into the daily life of the Latin American society. We also offer a Semi Intensive program for students who are unable or are not willing to study seven hours a day. The semi intensive program is four hours a day with the same quality and methodology of the intensive program, but allowing the student to have more spare time to do other activities. Something important to mention is that our school is open every day throughout the year, and students can start their lessons anytime.

•After a brief introduction and immersion in the language, classes will begin. The materials we use are exclusive to this Center, and our instructors are trained to properly work with them. If the student so desires, a different instructor may be chosen each week. In order to make teaching more effective, our method is supplemented by exercises, discussions, games, cultural excursions, videos, and audio, as stated before. After each lesson, the student completes an oral and written quiz to assure the knowledge acquired. The time set for each lesson, and for each level depends entirely on each Student. We also provide extra activities to the students, which are organized in a schedule so that all the students are able to enjoy their spare time after every daily lesson. The purpose is to offer further knowledge of different sites and of Ecuadorian culture, and for inter cultural experiences. They are optional and provided at no additional cost. These activities are:  Ecuadorian cooking classes: Tuesday 17:00 – 19:00  City tours to museums, art galleries, etc: Tuesday 10:50

• 12:30.  Conversation club: Monday 17:00 – 18:00.  Dance lessons featuring salsa and other Latin rhythms: Wednesday/Thursday 16:30–18:30  Group exercises: Wednesday/Thursdays 10:50 – 11:50.  Video and Games: Friday 10:50 – 12:30. The daily schedule for the students in the Center is: Lessons: 08:30 to 10:30 Break: 10:30 to 10:50 Lessons: 10:50 to 12:30 Lunch: 12:30 to 13:30 Lessons: 13:30 to 15:00 Break: 15:00 to 15:15 Lessons: 15:15 to 16:30 All additional and optional activities take place after these hours. HELPFUL INFORMATION You will not need a VISA if you are staying in Ecuador for a period of 90 days. If the student wishes to stay a longer period, it is convenient to obtain a VISA in the country of origin. In this case, we will send an enrollment certification to the student, as a help in obtaining the mentioned document. Upon arrival to the Ecuadorian airport, Immigration authorities will request the students' passport, and stamp it with the number of days that he or she is allowed to stay in the country.

- Services must be paid in full 7 days before the course starts in order to complete the enrolment and secure a place in the course and/or accommodation.

Cancellation policy

- The cancellation needs to be communicated in writing to the school by the person who booked the course.
- No course changes will be allowed to make up for refunds in the case of course cancellations.

Other terms

- No refunds, in case of cancellation you may transfer the services to a friend or a relative.

How do I book a language course / accommodation?

Booking with us is really easy. You just have to go to the link of the school you are interested in. Where it says COURSE and then START, you select the dates you wish to study there. Afterwards, you select how many weeks you want to study.

You then select the course you wish to attend. You can add optional services, such as accommodation and airport transfer. If you would like to add these additional services, you need to go further down the page where you will find the section relating to ACCOMMODATION. You select the option of the type of accommodation you want (You do not have to select the dates here if they are the same as the course - they are automatically selected).
After the Accommodation, you have another option, that of TRANSFER. This option allows you to book a transport that will pick you up at the airport and will take you to your residence or host family.

Once you have selected all these options, on your right hand side, you are going to see a summary of your reservation with all the information about the course and the accommodation, together with their prices. Also, the deposit you have to pay will be displayed there. You just have to press the Orange Button that says BOOK NOW and this will take you to another page to enter your personal details. When you are booking you only have to pay the little deposit. After that, we will contact the school and request your booking. When your booking is confirmed by the school or host, they will hold your place until the your booking balance is paid in full. The same applies for the accommodation. You can pay either with credit card, paypal account or bank transfer; as you prefer. This deposit you pay now will be discounted from the total price. The rest of the money will not have to be paid until 15 days before your course starts. In any case, you will be receiving emails about your deposit payments; and also, reminders about the rest of the money when it needs to be paid.

When do the courses start?

The start dates of intensive and standard language courses are generally flexible. If you have some basic knowledge of the language, you will be able to start any Monday of the year at almost any school. If you are a total beginner, courses usually start once or twice a month.
You should be aware that language schools have more students in July and August than during any other time of year, which means that course fees, housing prices and the overall cost of living are often more expensive during this time. If you would like to book a course in July or August, you should do so very early: schools have limited spots and might be booked well in advance for the high season. Your chances to get your preferred housing type are also greater if you book your course early. Housing options near the school are especially difficult to secure in the summer and tend to fill up quickly.
Language courses during the low season (September to June) are not only less expensive, but also have smaller classes. If you are able to wait to take your courses during this time you will pay less for your courses, and you may even receive better housing, since demand is much lower.
