Jersey is the largest of the Channel Islands, a self-governing British Crown Dependency of about 100,000 people only some 22 km off the coast of Normandy. The island is small, about 14 km by 8 km, and you can reach nearly everything by bus: the capital St Helier on the south coast, the harbour village of St Aubin, the beaches of St Brelade's Bay and, on the north and east coast, cliff paths, quiet bays and medieval Mont Orgueil Castle above Gorey harbour.

Studying English in Jersey means a safe, small-island setting with English as the everyday language, a mild and sunny climate by British standards and plenty to do outside class: coastal walks, watersports and surfing on the west coast, Elizabeth Castle, the Jersey War Tunnels and the island's food. The tides are among the biggest in the world (up to about 12 metres), which changes the coastline twice a day. Jersey has its own currency, the Jersey pound, which is on par with sterling, and sterling is accepted everywhere.

Getting there: Jersey Airport has direct flights from London and many other UK and European cities, and ferries run from the UK and from St Malo in France. Entry rules depend on your nationality: check the Jersey government and UK Government websites before you travel (the school says most European visitors need an Electronic Travel Authorisation, ETA, rather than a visa). English courses are offered here for adults, 50+ students and juniors, with homestay and residences.
